99-05-15 The one thousand four hundred year old Aoi Matsuri Parade continues to be performed on the modern streets of Kyoto. The parade was initally peformed to thank the gods of the Shimogamo and Kamigamo shrines for answering prayers to stop serious flooding of Kyoto.
